We are just three weeks into the new teaching series at First Denton entitled: Changed People, Changing Lives. On Sunday, the message focused on one of our core values we call Relentless Love. When I first heard the words relentless and love together, I had to stop and ponder the meanings of both words. The more I reflect on the two meanings, the more I recognize that they are a perfect match when I think about how God loves me. His love for me is relentless (unbending, unyielding, long suffering).
Our Pastor shared from Luke 10 when a lawyer put Jesus to the test and asked, “what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
Jesus answers with quoting the greatest commandment – “to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus reminded his followers that we are to in turn love God and our neighbor with all of our being, heart, soul, strength and mind.
We were challenged to:
· Love God passionately (with all your heart)
· Love God personally (with all your soul)
· Love God expressively (with all our strength)
· Love God intelligently (with all our mind).
Reflect on God’s relentless love for you. Get alone with God and express your love for Him. Demonstrate relentless love for someone in your family, a friend a neighbor and even a complete stranger.
At First Denton, we value Relentless Love. God pursues us with a relentless love. Relentless love and sacrificial love is Jesus’ conduit for the gospel, so we love people like He does. Will you demonstrate relentless love this week to those in your circles of influence, no matter what?
