"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17
Dnow weekend is here and we are expecting God to move in mighty ways. 2 Corinthians 5:17 is our theme verse for the weekend as our hope and focus is that students see that when they follow Jesus, Jesus has made them new and because of that our lives begin to look different. In our first session (Friday night) we looked at how Jesus Redefines our Identity. When we are in Christ, we become a son and daughter of THE MOST HIGH GOD and that radically changes our lives. In the second session (Saturday morning) we will be looking at how Jesus Redefines our Purpose. Many times we think we know that purpose for our lives or spend a lot of time looking for it, but it is Jesus who defines our purpose. Finally in the last session (Saturday night) we will look at how Jesus Redefines our Future. Since we are in Christ, we can be confident in the fact that God holds the future in his hands and because of that we can trust him.
There are a lot of things that go into making DNOW happen, so buckle in because we need some prayer warriors!! Are you ready? Please join us in prayer that students’ lives would be forever changed by the Love, Grace, and Mercy of Jesus Christ and they would understand what it means to follow Jesus. Also pray that our students would build lasting relationships with their friends and their relationship with Jesus would be strengthen. Pray that these students would be safe throughout the weekend (please no hospital visits). Next please pray for our college leaders as they lead our groups. College students have one of the most important roles of the weekend. They lead small group discussions, which often can lead to transformational conversations. They drive our kids from the church to host homes and sometimes Buc-ee’s, so please pray for safety. Next pray for the host homes. These host homes are willing to open up their home and potentially sacrifice a couple of broken things for the Glory of God (I’m kidding…maybe). Pray that the host homes are patient and have just as much fun as the kids do. We’re not done yet. I told you there is a lot to make this weekend happen. Next pray for our band, Portraits Music, as they lead us to Jesus through song. Pray that distractions are kept to a minimum and Jesus is lifted High. Pray that the band is energized and pray that the Holy Spirit would work through them. Next pray for our tech team that will be committing their time to make sure that our students can be in a position to encounter Jesus. Pray for our speaker, Kyle Wassom, that God would speak through him and give him the courage and boldness to proclaim God’s truth. Finally pray the God would move in power. Pray that God would work in the hearts of our students. Pray that God would do something that can only be explained by his power! Pray that this weekend we spark a revival in the hearts of our students, our student ministry, our church, and our city!
