Children’s Ministry teams are some of the most creative groups in the Kingdom of God. They are known for being able to turn scraps, left over supplies, and hand-me-downs into magnificent stage sets or fun object lessons.(Just visit us on a Sunday morning or at VBS and you will see proof of this!)The phrase “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is definitely a Children’s Ministry motto!
This is actually an accurate picture of how God looks at each one of us.
“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV)
God could have chosen anything – riches, fame, or galaxies as His special possession. He also could have abandoned us, discarded us, and left us in our sin. We certainly deserve it.
But He didn’t. God rescued us and calls us chosen, royal, and set-apart. He claims us as His own – as His treasure.
Today, let this truth sink in. But don’t stop there. Let this truth prompt you to declare God’s greatness. When we praise Him, we fulfill our purpose. God has called us out of the darkness and an eternity apart from Him, and into His wonderful, marvelous light. Because we belong to Him, we belong in His light.
Dear God, thank you for creating me and for choosing me asy our special treasure. Help me to see myself the way You see me – valuable and treasured.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
