Student Ministry

“Go therefore and make disciples” - Matthew 28:19

"To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ." - Ephesians 4:12

A New Year typically brings new visions and new goals, and that does not exclude Student Ministry. Our goal and our focus for our middle school and high school students is that we would become more missional focus. Often times it is easy for students to just come to church, hangout with friends, and eat some pizza. Those things are great and something we do, but that is not our focus and our purpose. Our goal is to train and equip middle school and high school students to share their faith and the gospel with students at their school. God has strategically placed our students at their school, work, and family for a purpose and that is to be a light to those around them. Sometimes I hear people say that this generation is the future of the church, but that is only have of the truth. If a middle school or high school student has a relationship with Jesus, they are a part of the church TODAY! That means they have the same calling that you and I have and that is to GO and make disciples by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Great Commission is not a suggestion for believers it is something we are commanded to go and do. Whenever we become focused on Jesus and sharing his truth with others, we have little time to worry about other things.

So, what can you do? Well, the first thing that you can do is become more missional focused yourself. To view your workplace, school, or family as your mission field that God has placed you in. You can set the example for other people and our students. The next thing you can do is invest in the lives of our students and pray for them. We need more people to realize that this generation has something special that can spark revival. Instead, as seeing students as a burden and sometimes annoying (lets be real, you have probably thought it) see students as an opportunity to disciple and mentor. The next thing you can do is to pray that the Holy Spirit would ignite a fire inside of our students to boldly proclaim the name of Jesus. We are going to do our part in training and equipping our students. One of the things we see in the early church in the book of Acts is when people are faithful and obedient while being empowered by the Holy Spirit great things tend to happen and tons of people come to know Jesus. My prayer is that FDSM and our Church would be faithful and obedient while being empowered by the Holy Spirit to make Jesus Famous wherever we go.
